Regulations and Standards

The European style of osteopathy (also known as manual osteopathy profession) is not regulated in the
Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. As such there is yet no regulatory health association
representing the profession in Newfoundland and Labrador. ONNL is a voluntary non-regulatory organization
set by the osteopathy profession.

The Osteopathic & Naprapathic Association of Newfoundland & Labrador develops and enforces its Standards of Practice,
Policies and Guidelines on its members.Standards of Practice outline the base requirements osteopathic
manual practitioners must meet to demonstrate clinical competence and deliver quality health care services.
Contravening or failing to maintain a standard of practice is an act of professional misconduct and may lead
to disciplinary action against a member by ONNL.
